Gender based violence (gbv)

Gender-based violence (GBV) is violence that is directed at an individual based on his or her biological sex OR gender identity. It includes physical, sexual, verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse, threats, coercion, and economic or educational deprivation, whether occurring in public or private life.

We participated in the UN Women 16 day of activism for GBV last year in Kibera where we tackled topics such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Domestic Violence and Rape among others. It is important for victims to share their stories, find healing and feel empowered to help others.
